Mazda 3 DC Sport Cold Air intakes are great. You get the fit and quality that comes from a solid named brand like DC (the renowned kings of sport compact headers), along with the affordability of a generic intake. They are the perfect mid-grade intake for 3 owners who want more power, but who don't want to deal with the headache of shoddy lower quality parts. Despite their low price, DC cold air intakes are a top level intake. Pick up a DC intake and you could tell right away that it is a much more thick and solid pipe than anything that comes out of the generic factories. And, since they are not overhyped and marketed like the BIG intake brands, they can be sold at a lower price as well.
Each Mazda 3 DC Cold Air Intake is designed to have a perfect fit, and comes with proper installation instructions and accessories. Also, with clean welds that are hole free, and mandrel bends that won't hit the sides of your car, you really can't get a better intake for the money.
Mazda 3 Cold Air Intake System Frequently Asked Questions
Can I install my new Cold Air Intake myself?
If you have a decent amount of technical knowledge and can follow instructions, you should be able to follow the instructions and install a cold air intake onto your Mazda 3 yourself. K&N FIPK intakes by far offer the best instructions with multiple pictures, though AEM is close behind.
What kind of power can I expect to get on my Mazda 3 from an AEM, Spyder, or K&N FIPK Cold Air Intake?
Power increases vary by application, but you could expect anywhere from a 3-15hp increase under optimal conditions.
Are Cold Air Intakes safe in the rain?
NO CAR should ever be operated during flooding. Unlike short ram intakes, cold air intakes draw air from a relatively low position. Your vehicle can technically ingest water from rain puddles, streams, floods, etc if your car is lowered or the water is deep enough, and damage your engine. To prevent this, you could install the appropriate sized AEM Bypass valve onto your Mazda 3's AEM or Spyder Cold Air Intake, however, we instead recommend switching to your vehicles stock intake system if you anticipate driving through flood conditions. K&N FIPK Intakes do not require bypass valves since their design is higher than AEM and Spyder, and are relatively safe from water ingestion.
